Two tools to Staying Sacred:
be present and redefine your experience
Last month I went on a beautiful two week vacation with my partner and his family. It was a well rounded experience starting with Las Vegas where I stayed at the Bellagio and got to see Cirque du Soleil. We then hopped into a van and all 10 of us stayed in the Grand Canyon for a couple of days. The road trip was full of singing cowboy songs and gawking at the astonishing landscape. Our final destination was Zion National Park. We rented a house and grounded into the heat for a week.
It was two weeks of fun and family.
And two weeks of a whole lot of shoulds.
I should be spending more time with my partner's family.
I should be in the swimming pool with all the kids.
I should be up later at night engaging with everyone.
I should be waking up earlier in the morning.
I should be doing all of these things that I don’t want to do.
Then there were the shouldn'ts.
I shouldn't be enjoying myself.
I shouldn't be neglecting my work.
I shouldn't be not engaging with my tribe.
I shouldn't be having a good time.
I shouldn't be taking this hike into the Grand Canyon.
I shouldn't be spending hours laughing and enjoying myself.
How many times have you sat there in the midst of doing something that felt like it would be profound with all the shoulds and shouldn'ts shackling you to a point where you were fully not present with anything else that was going on?
This vacation had me start questioning, “What is a vacation?”
And so the first thing I realized was I was putting and placing on myself what was right or wrong based on what I thought a vacation was, based on what other people shared what they believed the ideal vacation should be.
I then started to think about all of the stories in me that I should be working hard, I shouldn't neglect my business, and I am not worthy of having the luxury of time and space.
I recognized it was time to define what a vacation meant to me; to replace what others thought and instead declare a vacation is a shared a sacred experience.
Once I decided on a new way of being on vacation, I began to commune with all of Mother Earth and the nature that was around.
Instead of wasting my time figuring out what it is that I needed to do and have my ego bash me every single moment, I decided to stay in the sacred and ask myself at each very moment, "What do I desire to do? How can I, from the place of gratitude, continue with my sacred practices to help fuel me, inspire me, create the magic of the manifestation, and get any information that is needed?"
I was given this two week's time for a reason. And I needed to stay present to receive those divine lessons.
There are the things that happen when we stay present and we question words and experiences based on what we think was the old paradigm or the old way in which we were supposed to show up and really stay strong into who we are and what these things mean.
A vacation now means only that I stay in an experience and allow each moment to feel sacred, and I get to say yes or no to any of it, and there's no wrong in saying either, and to be able to be open and witness the beauty that is around me.
If there's something that feels heavy in your system, if there are questions of right or wrong or should or shouldn't that you are moving through right now, ask yourself to define the word that you are feeling heavy around, because it might be an old story around an expectation that's not even yours around what this is supposed to be.
Then drop into what is the truest essence of this? What does it really mean for you?
You have the ability to define a word and experience any way that fits you and your truth, so enjoy that, and have a vacation.
Be in an experience that makes you feel the sacred and the connection to all.
It is incredibly important to me to connect with as many women as I can throughout the year. It is why traveling is such a sacred experience. I would love to see you and give you a womb-to-womb hug. May our paths cross very soon. If you are interested in any of the below events, simple respond to this email and let me know. I would be more than happy to provide you with more information.
